The Arts: Music

O HIO WESLEYAN’S Department of Music is a professional school of music, fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. We offer a Bachelor of Music in Performance, which prepares you for graduate study or to pursue various professional opportunities in the field, and the Bachelor of Music in Music Education, which  prepares you to teach general, vocal, and instrumental music in Pre-K–12 schools. You may also elect a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Music if you prefer a non-professional concentration within the liberal arts program.

At Ohio Wesleyan, you don’t have to be a performance major to participate in recitals, operas, and ensembles; those opportunities are open to all OWU students—music majors and non-majors. You’ll also have ready access to practice facilities and instruction by faculty who are all experienced, professional, well-respected musicians.

Majors: Music Performance, Music Education, Applied Music, History and Literature, Theory

Minor: Music

Beyond-the-classroom opportunities: The Choral Art Society, Opera Theatre, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Bishop Band, Park Avenue Jazz Band, Ohio Wesleyan University Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Music Ensembles. Music Education National Conference. Mu Phi Epsilon and Pi Kappa Lambda (music honorary societies). The New York Arts Program, internships, study abroad. Student board.
