The Humanities: English


L ITERATURE AND WRITING enrich every aspect of your life. Literature helps develop your moral imagination, while writing enhances your ability to communicate with power and precision. The Department of English will prepare you for a career in business, the nonprofit sector, teaching, magazine writing, public relations, or any other field that requires skills in writing, interpretation, and critical thinking. And if graduate studies are in your future, you’ll be ready for that, too.

Majors: English Literature, Creative Writing, Nonfiction Writing

Minor: English, English with a Concentration in Film Studies

Beyond-the-classroom opportunities: Independent study, directed reading. Visiting authors, OWL (literary magazine), Confiscated (literary magazine), Le Bijou (yearbook), Sigma Tau Delta (English honorary society). The New York Arts Program, The Philadelphia Center, internships, study abroad. Student board.
