The Social Sciences: Education

O HIO WESLEYAN has been educating teachers for more than 100 years. Our program is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), a benchmark of excellence very rarely achieved by a school of our size. We believe in the integration of educational theory and practical experience, right from the beginning. So from your first course onward, you’ll be working directly with children in school. From creating tutoring programs to working with at-risk students, you’ll be involved in the daily lives of children and their families—and you’ll be making a difference as you learn.

Major and Minor: Preparation for state licensure at the preschool, elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Beyond-the-classroom opportunities: The Ohio Wesleyan Early Childhood Center (a laboratory preschool program), field experience, independent study, directed reading, research, internships. Buckeye Valley Reads, Language Exchange Alliance of Delaware (LEAD), Columbus Initiative, Kappa Delta Pi (education honorary society). Student board.
