The Social Sciences: Sociology/Anthropology

C URIOUS ABOUT YOUR OWN WORLD and those of others? Sociology/Anthropology majors study the complex interrelationships between individuals; cultural assumptions and patterns; and social institutions such as family, school, corporations, and religion.

In your coursework and through various off-campus opportunities, you’ll develop the intellectual sophistication you need to understand race and ethnic relations, crime, physical and mental health, family life, inequalities, and the changing lives and roles of women, to name a few. You’ll examine your own life and society and compare them to others’, as you prepare for graduate school or for careers as diverse as public service, rehabilitation, education, and communication.

Major and Minor: Sociology/Anthropology

Beyond-the-classroom opportunities: Independent study, directed reading, field experience, internships, research. Alpha Kappa Delta (sociology honor society). The Philadelphia Center, Progress OWU. Student board.
