![]() About OWU IN THE 165 YEARS of its existence, Ohio Wesleyan has changed with the times, but it has never abandoned its enduring principles. In this place of intellectual engagement and transformative experiences, the University continues to champion the liberal arts tradition and a culture of service. The defining characteristics of an Ohio Wesleyan education have been, and remain, a rigorous academic program coupled with the real-world experience that allows our graduates to contribute meaningfully to their communities—to win the Nobel Prize, to serve at the highest levels of government, to contribute to the national discourse through the arts and literature, and to lead business and industry in breaking new ground. And to teach the nation’s children. To serve churches of many denominations. To work in impoverished areas. To contribute to humanitarian causes in every corner of the world. Our students and alumni speak as one when they discuss the third characteristic that sets Ohio Wesleyan apart: the lifelong relationships they forge with an engaged and committed faculty and with fellow students who have come to the University from 45 different countries. Right now, Ohio Wesleyan is poised for a new era of growth and eager to welcome a president who will challenge us, lead us, and collaborate with us as we create a larger vision for Ohio Wesleyan. A vision that works for the 21st century while holding fast to the values that have made us who we are.
