Ohio Wesleyan University is a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and is located just 20 miles north of Columbus.

The Division of Student Engagement and Success seeks a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve Counseling Services as a Clinical Counselor. We hope to identify a generalist clinician with a strong developmental focus and diverse areas of interest. The successful candidate has clinical experience working with college students or young adults and familiarity with educational outreach. This is a full-time, 10-month position beginning August 1, 2019 that offers a competitive salary.

Responsibilities

Individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, educational outreach, consultation, training for faculty/staff/students, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Counseling Services.  

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in psychology or master’s degree in mental health counseling or social work; at least one year counseling experience; eligibility for Ohio licensure or license eligibility to practice independently in the state of Ohio as a psychologist, mental health counselor, or social worker required. The ideal candidate will have experience and expertise in serving college student populations. This opening is for a generalist who has particular commitment to and experience with serving students who identify with one or more of the following clinical and outreach areas: men, racially diverse students, International students, and/or first-generation college students. Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to form strong working/collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff members, and the ability to relate effectively with diverse members of the University community are also essential.

Education, training, and/or expertise in one or more of the following areas: men/masculinity, racially diverse students.
