Here on Ohio Wesleyan's campus, the Spectrum Resource Center prides itself on conducting certifications for locations that can be deemed as safe zones. We define a safe zone as a space where all people are welcomed, valued, and are assured that they will feel safe regardless of complexities of identity. We emphasize that safe zones are spaces where intersectionality is recognized and emphasized, encouraging those certified to treat those in the space as full and complex humans.

If you are interested in having your space be designated a safe zone, please feel free to reach out and either email! The safe zoning process consists of going through a training with us and after completion, signing our Safe Zone Contract & Confidentiality Statement.

Our safe zone training hopes to create a strong network of students, houses, and faculty that are committed to providing safety and support for all OWU community members who identify as part of the spectrum or are questioning their identity.
