Ohio Wesleyan University will provide again this coming summer the opportunity for a limited number of OWU students to spend ten weeks working on a research project on campus with a faculty sponsor. Brief descriptions of the projects will be available starting the week of January 23, 2018. If you are interested in applying you are strongly encourage you to discuss your interest with the project mentor who will be a part of the evaluation process. The typical summer experience begins immediately after graduation and ends in mid-July and includes a $3,320 stipend and free housing. A research paper, poster presentation and/or oral presentation at a symposium describing the research is required and the final $500 installment of the stipend is dependent upon completing this requirement.
Preference is given to current sophomores and juniors and those who have not previously participated in a summer research program at OWU. Each project has additional specific course/experience qualifications and students should check with the faculty mentor about these qualifications prior to submitting their applications. Rarely are students with a GPA below 3.0 placed in this program.
A completed application is required along with an “unofficial” transcript and two letters of recommendation. Applications can be downloaded here. Notification of your acceptance in the program (first round) will be sent prior to spring break. Your acceptance of an offer must be received by March 20, 2018. Alternative selections (if necessary) will be sent after March 27, 2018.
