Career Connection Mission Statement

To provide career development, planning, and job search assistance to students and alumni by offering resources to help connect theory and practice with meaningful career objectives and by building partnerships with faculty, staff, alumni, parents, employers, and graduate schools. Through individual counseling, creative programming and technological services, we help students to identify and enhance networks and skills necessary to achieve career goals and to become actively engaged in a global society.

Leigh Mascolino, M.S./Ed.S.

Pre-Health Career Community

Leigh oversees the Career Connection office, supervises staff, and provides strategic leadership in the OWU Career Connection program. She provides individualized career coaching to students and establishes rapport with staff, faculty, employers, and Alumni to expand job prospects and graduate/professional opportunities for OWU students.

Leigh has a B.A. in Psychology from Ohio State and an M.S./Ed.S. in Career Counseling from Florida State, where she was trained under the Cognitive Information Processing (CIP) theory. She is a Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC), a Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW), National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Strengths Coach, and an MBTI Certified Practitioner. Leigh served as President of the Ohio Career Development Association and has most recently worked as the Manager of Career Services in the College of Pharmacy at Ohio State.

Mindy B. Agin, MS, CPRW

Education & Communication Career Community

Mindy coaches students on internship success strategies, networks with employers to develop internship opportunities, and works with alumni to develop externship (career exploration) experiences. She helped create "The Bishop Launch Program," an intern development program designed to help students become confident, competent and competitive internship and job seekers.

Prior to joining OWU, Mindy worked for 10 years as a Career Strategist in the Career and Workforce Development Program at Jewish Family Services in Columbus, OH. Mindy holds a BA in Judaic Studies and Political Science from Emory University and an MS in Human Resources Management from the New School for Social Research in NYC, NY. Mindy is a Certified Professional Resume Writer and member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

Allyson Amstutz '23

Allyson provides strategic and creative support to Career Connection staff along with programming organization and grant management. Allyson welcomes students and visitors at the front desk and is trained as a Peer Career Coach to provide OWU students with career guidance and resume/cover letter reviews. 

Allyson has a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan with a Special Education major and a minor in Psychology. After graduating, Allyson joined the Career Connection team full-time in 2023 for a one-year term as their second-ever Post-Graduate Intern. Following this term, she intends to pursue a teaching position.

As Assistant Director, Career Catalyst Program and Liaison for the Economics and Business Department, Carolyn is responsible for educating students about career resources and connecting them to great internship and job opportunities with the ultimate goal of preparing them for life after OWU!

Carolyn has a Bachelor's Degree in Interpersonal and Public Communication from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Labor and Human Resources from The Ohio State University. She has a wealth of experience in multi-level corporate recruiting, student advising and internship program management.

Humanities & Fine Arts Career Community

As a Career Catalyst (Careers with Social Impact), Newton works with students to help connect them to socially charged careers that align with their personal mission. Utilizing the amazing tools in the Career Connection office, Newton creates and maintains connections with students and employers to help ensure quality experiences for students, both pre and post-graduation, as well as quality and qualified candidates for employers. 

Newton has a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Cleveland State University.  Prior to returning to OWU, Newton worked as an Academic/College Advisor with I Know I Can and as the Development Associate for TECH CORPS.

Newton's Office is located in Elliott 009.

As a Career Catalyst for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) & Pre-Health students, Kristen is enthusiastic about educating students concerning career resources offered by the Career Connection Office and connecting them to great internships, graduate school application assistance, and job opportunities to help them achieve their academic and career goals after OWU!

 

Kristen is a proud OWU aluma with a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology & Botany returning to campus from nearly a decade at Chemical Abstract Services as a Primary Scientific Document Analyst to help students gain the confidence, skills and academic maturity that will help them become stand out members of their respective professional community.  


Interns

Hannah Cox '24, Career Connection Intern

Hannah Cox is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan, studying Environmental Science with a minor in Zoology. She is a Career Connection Intern in addition to being the Career Ambassador Leader and a Peer Career Coach. When she is not working with the OWU Career Community, she plays defense for the women's lacrosse team and is a member of Tree House (SLU) and the Environmental Science & Sustainability Department Board. She is passionate about environmental and wildlife conservation and is excited about her career path after graduating.

Nathan Oke '24, Peer Career Coach

Nathan is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan and joined the Career Connection team in the Fall of 2021. He is majoring in pre-dentistry and minoring in accounting. He is a part of the Men's Tennis team, a mentor of the Economic Management Fellows program, and a re-founder of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He is excited to grow and learn throughout his time working alongside others in Career Connection. 

Josie Martin '26, Peer Career Coach

Josie is a sophomore at Ohio Wesleyan University and joined the Career Connection Team in Spring of 2023 as a Peer Career Coach. In this role, Josie works directly with students to help them craft their resumes/applications and directly supports Career Connection events, programs, and initiatives such as the Alumni Partners Program. Josie is a Pre-Med major, has completed various research projects, and offers valuable insight to the Career Connection Office.  

Sophia DelGallo '24, Econ/ Business Career Connection Intern

Sophia is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan, studying Business Management and minoring in Women's and Gender Studies. Sophia joined the Career Connection team as the StAP Intern in the Fall of 2022, and recently became the Econ / Business Career Connection Intern in Fall 2023. Sophia's work involves creating the Econ / Business Newsletter and assisting with Career Connection events. On campus, Sophia is involved in women's lacrosse and Delta Gamma, and is really looking forward to expanding her skills and knowledge of the business and finance industry in this role.

Chloe Sullivan '24, STEM Career Connection Intern

Chloe is a senior studying Genetics and Botany with a minor in Environmental Sciences. She joined the Career Connection team in Fall of 2023, and serves as the STEM Career Community Intern. In this role, Chloe directly supports the STEM Career Catalyst by developing the newsletter, coordinating events, and playing a key role with the Choose Ohio First and Schimmel Scholars programs. On campus, Chloe is a member of the Honors Board, Citizens Climate Lobby Board, Kappa Alpha Theta, and President of the Women in Science Club. Chloe is looking forward to using her passion for STEM to positively contribute to Career Connection programs & events!

Wasif Karim '26, StAP Intern

Wasif Karim is a sophmore at Ohio Wesleyan University, where he is pursuing a double major in Astrophysics (B.S) and Computer Science (B.A). In the fall 2023, he joined the Career Connection team as a StAP Intern. He also holds the position of Founder-President of OWU Robotics Club, servers as PA Intern at Reslife, and a member of Phi Delta Theta(Φ Δ Θ) Fraternity. He is passionate about Robotics, Drones and Astronomy and always eager to learn new skills & knowledge.

Halima Elmajdoubi '24, Humanities, Arts, and Social Impact Career Connection Intern

Halima is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan, studying English-Literature and Communication. Halima joined the Career Connection Team in the Fall of 2023 as the Careers with Social Impact, Humanities, and the Arts Intern. Halima's work involves assisting with the two biweekly Humanities and Social Impact newsletters and helping out with on-campus Career Connection events. On campus, Halima also works in the Student Involvement Office, and she recently participated in the New York Arts Program last Spring.

Madalynn Cook '27, Strengths & Peer Career Coach Intern

Maddie is a freshman at Ohio Wesleyan, studying Psychology. Maddie joined the Career Connection team as the first-ever Strengths & Peer Career Coach Intern in the Fall of 2023. Maddie's work involves organizing data, managing Strengths Conversations, assisting with resumes, and building student involvement. Off-campus, Maddie really enjoys watching movies and hanging out with her friends. Maddie is looking forward to making many new connections in this role.

Luke Pryzbys '26

Luke is a current sophomore studying Pre-Medicine, Neuroscience, and Psychology. He is involved with Traditions, Alumni Engagement, President's Club Association (TAP), is a Biology Tutor, a member of the Psychology Student Board, CRU, and the Pre-Health Club. Luke plans to get his masters in public health and then continue his education in medical school. After his education career, he aspires to be an orthopedic surgeon. 

Callia Barwick '24

Callia is a current senior studying Pre-Law/ Political & Governmental Studies. She is involved in Cheerleading, Women's Golf, Delta Zeta, Panhellenic Council, Pre-Law Club, PG Student Board Representative, Admission Office Intern, Member of the InterFaith House SLU, and a Member of Mock Convention (2024). Her future Career Goals involve becoming a Policy Reformer and Advocate!

Blake Johnson '25

Blake is a current junior studying Politics & Government. He is on the Residential Life staff, runs Cross Country and Track, is a PG Student Board Representative, and is a member of Together Everyone Achieves More. His future career goals are to become a Nonprofit leader & diplomat. 

Clara Wood '25

Clara is a junior at Ohio Wesleyan studying Art History and Marketing. She is involved in CPB, TAP, Fine Arts Student Board, Enrichment Intern (Alumni), and is the Werner Gallery Director. Clara hopes to pursue Arts Management upon graduation. 

Giorgi Bediashvili '25


Giorgi is a sophmore at Ohio Wesleyan University. He is majoring in Political Science, Government, and Economics. He is the Chair of Public Relations Committee for WCSA, a Marketing Committe member for the Campus Programming Board, a member of Horizons International, an Office Worker for the Public Safety Office, and a tutor for Math 105.  His goal is to work in international organizations and eventually step into politics!

Karli Walsh '24

Karli Walsh is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan University.  She is currently majoring in Politics and Government and Philosophy.  She is a Resident Assistant, secretary of WCSA, Secretary of Citizens' Climate Lobby, an officer for the Young Democratic Socialists of America, treasurer of the Food Recovery Network, a member of Circle K, and member of both the Politics and Government and Philosophy and Religion Student Boards.  Her goal is to earn a Ph.D. in Philosophy and become a professor.

Morgan Chmielenski '24

Morgan Chmielenski is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is majoring in Genetics and Psychology. She is actively involved on campus as a member of the Kappa Alpha Tenta, the PreHealth club, the Ski and Snowboard club, the mortar board, and a leader for Camp OWU.  Her goal is to become a genetic counselor!
