General Description

The American Psychological Association’s objective is to increase the knowledge of issues related to ethnic minority mental health and to improve the quality of mental health treatment delivered to ethnic minority populations. We do this by providing financial support and professional guidance to individuals pursuing doctoral degrees in psychology and neuroscience.

Disciplines Supported

Variety of programs available for minority students pursuing doctoral study in psychology and neuroscience.


Financial support (3 years maximum, must be renewed annually) and dissertation support (limited availability).

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be American citizens or permanent resident aliens with an alien registration card.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to a career in ethnic minority neuroscience- and psychology-related fields.
