• The minimum GPA required to apply for a position is 2.50.
  • Applicants must be available for an interview during the spring application period
    • Note: If an applicant is off-campus during the Spring semester application period, you will need to contact the supervisor in-charge to schedule a telephone interview (the applicant however, has to be on campus during the term of the position).
  • A student may not be employed in the same position more than once.
  • There is a limit of two StAP appointments per student throughout the course of your time at Ohio Wesleyan, although it is rare for a student to receive more than one StAP appointment in their four years here.
  • The program is open to all students regardless of financial need.

Although StAP awards are not based on financial need, the award amount will be incorporated into the aid packages of those participants who receive need-based financial aid at Ohio Wesleyan.  A federal work-study award may be adjusted or a loan may be reduced or replaced. Treatment varies depending on the individual financial aid packages. Applicants should review their circumstances with a financial aid officer.

  • Positions are for either the full academic year or one semester. All positions this year will be six hours per week and are paid $750/semester.  Payment is made on a monthly basis.

Interested students should read through the descriptions of the positions and choose up to three. After eligible applicants have been interviewed by their potential supervisors, appointments will be made based on interests, qualifications, and fund availability. Successful applicants will be notified by the last week of the semester.

In fairness to all, late applications will not be accepted under any circumstances

Can I apply for more than one position?
Yes, you can apply for up to three positions if you so desire.

Do I fill out a separate application for each position that I am applying for?
No. You will need to submit a StAP Application, Resume, and Unofficial Transcripts (you will submit the same documents to each position). This is all done online.

What is the GPA requirement?
The minimum GPA is 2.50 to apply to StAP. Please note that some supervisors require a higher GPA requirement.

Can I also hold a work-study job on campus?
StAP students appointed to a six hour per week position cannot hold a second on-campus position.

When and how will I be notified if I have received a StAP appointment?
Successful applicants will receive an email no later than the last week of the spring semester. Only OWU StAP Admin (Leslie Melton) can notify you of an official StAP position.  StAP notifications will be sent out around April 24th.

Why does this process take so long?
The combination of many great opportunities, the number of students who are interested in positions, students being able to apply for multiple positions, and limited funding offers many challenges and takes time to sort out. We think you will find it is worth the wait!
