New: Online Courses for Learning Blackboard

We are now providing several online courses within Blackboard to learn how to use it better. These self-paced courses are facilitated by David Soliday, with content provided by Blackboard Education Services. Courses currently available include

  • Introduction to Blackboard Learn Original and Ultra: This introductory course is designed to get you started as you begin to explore Blackboard Learn. It is designed primarily for faculty, teachers, course builders, trainers, and site administrators who are new to Blackboard Learn. In this course you will begin your exploration of Learn by discovering the core features of the platform, including the Original and Ultra experiences.
  • Getting Started with Blackboard Learn: This online course provides a hands-on introduction to the teaching and learning features of Blackboard Learn. Participants will also become familiar with some common start-up tasks, such as organizing the course menu, customizing the course style, creating announcements, adding calendar events, setting up discussion forums, and adding textbook information.
  • Learn Teaching Essentials for Original: This course combines three courses, Building Courses, Enhancing Communication, and Assessing Learners into one course. There are three modules listed in the course menu that correspond to each individual course. The course overall structure and learning outcomes are similar to the individual courses. Each course participant will need access to his or her own Development and Practice companion courses to complete assigned activities.
  • Using the Content Collection in Blackboard: In this self-paced course, discover how the Blackboard Content Collection allows you to efficiently manage, reuse and update academic content, empowering collaboration and sharing. Also learn how students and teachers can record their academic achievements using portfolios.
  • Assessing Learners in Blackboard: This course introduces the features and functions of the tools used to deliver assignments and assess students in Blackboard Learn, such as creating and managing assignments; creating, deploying, and grading tests; using advanced question types; and working with question pools and sets.
  • Blackboard Collaborate with the Ultra Experience: It’s easier than ever to flip your class, offer virtual office hours, invite outside guests to join, and/or hold online meetings with Blackboard’s entirely web-based video conferencing platform, now integrated into Blackboard Learn courses. Collaborate in breakout rooms, share content, draw on a whiteboard, poll participants, record sessions, join via phone, and more. And, perhaps best of all, it's mobile friendly!
