The Bishop ACCESS staff uses a case-management model to provide integrated and comprehensive support to students through a range of services and resources.

Highlights of the Bishop ACCESS Program include:

Academic Coaching Sessions

Students meet weekly with their professional coach for a minimum of 60 minutes, but up to 90 minutes as needed. During the meeting, students work with their coach to identify exam and assignment due dates and adjust their weekly study schedule as needed. Coaches also assist students in developing a comprehensive semester plan that includes articulating academic and personal goals, setting up a planner for the semester, and identifying actions that will help enhance executive functioning performance.

Academic Skills and Campus Life Workshops

Coaches and other campus community members facilitate workshops designed to promote success in all aspects of college life. As students progress through their academic career, the workshop topics are curated to reflect their current needs.

Dedicated Study Tables

Students are able to attend daily dedicated study space with access to peer tutors  who provide content and study strategy support for many classes, including Biology, Economics, Mathematics, Psychology, World Languages & Cultures, Writing, and other subject areas when available.

Secondary Advising

Coaches work with the student’s academic advisor to provide guidance and support for advising-related needs and concerns.

Parent Communication

Multiple newsletters are sent to the students and parents each semester with important program information and University calendar dates.

Mid-Semester Progress Report

During the 5th week of the semester, coaches communicate with instructors regarding the student’s attendance, participation, and current grades. This information is shared with the students and parents to identify any adjustments or additional supports needed.

End-of-Semester Progress Report

Coaches communicate with the students and parents at the end of every semester to provide an overview of the student's academic experience and personal growth, describe executive functioning development, and identify program support plans for the following term.
