Ph.D., Colorado State University
Katie Thomas has been at Ohio Wesleyan University since 2004. She received her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry under Louis D. Hegedus at Colorado State University and attended Creighton University for her undergraduate studies. She teaches General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry and has taught courses in Organometallic Chemistry and the Chemistry of Mind-Altering Drugs.
Thomas’s doctoral dissertation was titled The Palladium Catalyzed Asymmetric Synthesis of 4I-Disubstituted Nucleoside Analogs. She used to study methodology of the synthesis of small molecules, and her current research focuses on kinetic binding studies of methylphenidate.
In her spare time, Thomas runs half-marathons. Her dog, Ellie, can often be seen scampering around the department.
