The Sports and Exercise Management major prepares you for a career that combines physical and sport activity with areas such as sport management, marketing, and retail fitness.
You will take 15 courses to complete this major. You must have a 2.67 in previous courses to enter this concentration. You will take courses in the Health and Human Kinetics and Economics departments, which will give you a foundation for the business of sport and exercise. You also must maintain certification of adult and pediatric CPR through graduation.
Build your connections to the professional world with internships with professional sports teams and in health and exercise centers and businesses.
OWU's fabulous new Simpson Querrey Fitness Center houses the HHK Department and serves as a classroom and lab space for HHK students.
OWU offers 23 varsity sports, and about one-third of all students participate on a varsity team.
In the Apprenticeship course, junior or senior Health and Human Kinetics majors and minors, under faculty supervision, locate a position in an area of concentration. This applied course must have a department faculty sponsor who is responsible for approving the apprenticeship proposal and final report of the student. Students are required to accumulate 120 hours during this experience.

Recent graduates have begun careers in sport management and coaching with the Cleveland Indians, George Washington University Athletic Department, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
