The Bachelor of Music Performance major provides a solid foundation for students who have the drive to excel in the art of musical performance.
About the major
In addition to applied study, performance majors appear on recitals all four years, give a half hour solo recital during their Junior year, and a full hour concert their Senior year.
Numerous other opportunities are also available, from participating in Opera Theater to participating in adjudicated competitions and performing with such professional ensembles as regional orchestras. Many of our Performance majors participate in a concerto competition to win the chance of playing a movement of a concerto or sing an aria with the OWU Chamber Orchestra. The degree also requires some pedagogical experience in which students teach beginners under the supervision of their applied professor.
