Currently, Dr. Chiou is Assistant Professor of Music and the head of piano and music theory at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. As a performer, Dr. Chiou is at home not only as a soloist but also as a chamber musician, and he enjoys collaborating in a variety of settings, from songs and piano duets to larger ensembles with strings or winds. His pedagogical research centers on the bearing of music analysis on performance and teaching. Other areas of interest include performance practice in the music of Brahms and Rachmaninoff and the role of music in film.
