About

Ian Bell, D.M.A. (c), is currently in his final year at The Ohio State University, where he is a graduate associate. He is obtaining his D.M.A. in Bassoon Performance, studying with Karen Pierson. He earned his Masters Degree in Bassoon Performance from the University of Akron, where he studied with Cynthia Cioffari. He also earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Mount Union.

He has played in multiple groups throughout Northeast and Central Ohio including Alliance Symphony Orchestra, Canton Comic Opera, Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra, Mansfield Symphony Orchestra and Tuscarawas Philharmonic. Through his education at both the University of Akron and The Ohio State University, he has held principal positions in multiple ensembles.

An active chamber musician, he has been a part of several chamber woodwind ensembles, ranging from trios to quintets. He has also been involved with children outreach programs.
