About

Dr. Mariko Kaneda, pianist, has won prizes at the Montreal International Piano Competition, the Maria Canals International Piano Competition and the European Piano Competition in Luxembourg. As an active chamber musician, she has collaborated with violinists Aaron Rosand and Anastasia Tchebotaryova, (a prize-winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition); with cellists Janos Starker, Bernard Greenhouse; violist Paul Neubauer; The Roycroft Quartet, and the Colorado String Quartet.

She has performed numerous recitals and chamber music concerts in Japan, France, and Australia. Her appearances in the U.S. include recitals at Carnegie Weill Hall, Merkin Hall, and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her participation in music festivals includes the East End Chamber Series in Adelaide, Australia; Bard Music Festival; and Banff Music Festival.

Locally, she serves on the board of Sunday at Central, a recital series, where she performs regularly with other renowned locals. Dr. Kaneda is also a regular performer at the Roycroft Chamber Music Festival in East Aurora, NY. She resides in Columbus with her husband David Niwa, Assistant Concertmaster of the Columbus Symphony.
