Richard D. Edwards is the coordinator of the music education degree program at OWU. His scholarly interests include the neuromusical research implications of music learning, the development of musical creativity, and exploring curricular balance between large ensemble performance traditions and vernacular musicianship.
Prior to working with college students, Dr. Edwards taught elementary general music and high school band in Ohio and North Carolina. He is the creator of the Musical Brain Imaging Research Database (MusicBIRD), a comprehensive review of all peer-reviewed brain imaging studies involving human subjects engaged in musical processes till 2010.
