COME EXPERIENCE THE JOYS OF MUSIC AT OWU
The music program at Ohio Wesleyan is definitely the opposite of ordinary. Its flexibility allows you to participate at your own tempo and your own level of interest.
IT’S ALL ABOUT CHOICES
Maybe you love music, but think you’d like to major in something else, such as pre-medicine, English, geology, or economics. Our Bachelor of Arts in Music option gives you lots of exposure to the department and many opportunities to perform.
You can minor in music, too, or simply be part of the music program by joining a vocal or instrumental ensemble (Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Park Avenue Jazz Ensemble, Brass Ensembles, Woodwind Ensembles, Percussion Ensembles, Jazz Combos) You decide how active you want to be; we provide the opportunities.
MENTOR, GUIDES, AND FRIENDS
Our less-than-5:1 student/ faculty ratio assures you of all the attention you need to become the musician you want to be. And because our faculty members are all practicing, professional musicians with wide networks of colleagues, we can help you understand the ins and outs of a professional career and connect you with others who can provide additional opportunities for you.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM AND THE STAGE
In addition to class and studio experience, Ohio Wesleyan offers a variety of ways for you to encounter the world. Competitive Theory-to-Practice Grants allow you to conduct independent research, immerse yourself in another culture, complete a meaningful internship, or engage in significant service, usually outside the United States. Travel-Learning Courses provide additional ways for you and your classmates and professors to combine theory and practice in a global context. All these experiences combine to make you a more sophisticated thinker and a better musician. Many of our graduates are now enjoying professional careers and are very positive about the education and training they received at OWU.
