The 54th Annual Ohio Wesleyan University President’s High School Band Festival will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018. The High School Band Festival is a one-day event showcasing an Honors Band composed of high school musicians from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan, and beyond. OWU faculty member Dr. Larry Griffin will direct the Honors Band. In addition, the Ohio Wesleyan University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform during the festival concert.
Attending seniors interested in majoring in music will be granted the opportunity to audition for Music Merit Scholarships on Friday evening January 19, 2018. Music Merit scholarships can be added to other scholarship packages. Attending the festival the following day will give auditioners the insider’s look at OWU—its facilities, faculty, students—and an experience of what it would be like to be a music major at Ohio Wesleyan University.
This year, in addition to the application form below, students must also provide a recommendation email from their music director. Please include information such as the student’s instrument of choice, their previous experience as a musician, and any other applicable comments. Send all recommendations to Dr. Griffin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
