Richard Leavy has been a member of the department since 1980. He is the department’s clinical psychologist, interested in the development and prevention of psychological disorders, especially those concerning substance abuse.

The courses he teaches include Abnormal Behavior, Community Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, Organizational Behavior, and a Freshman Tutorial on Alcohol Abuse.

Reflecting one of Leavy’s interests outside of psychology, he has a collection of antique maps.

Winner of the 1984 Sherwood Dodge Shankland Award for Encouragement of Teachers and the 2013 Bishop Herbert Welch Meritorious Teaching Award
