Associate Professor of Religion Susan Gunasti complements the humanities section of International Studies by teaching Introduction to Islam, Women and Gender in Islam, and Modern Islam and Its Political Ideas. She earned a B.A. in applied mathematics and economics from Brown University and an M.A. in international relations with a concentration in Middle East studies/international economics from Johns Hopkins. She is currently completing the Ph.D. program in Religion at Princeton University, where she is writing a dissertation entitled “A History of the Interpretation of the Qur’an in Twentieth-Century Turkey.” Prior to teaching at Ohio Wesleyan, Gunasti taught at Princeton, Rutgers, and New York University.
