About

Glen Vanderbilt Jr., has worked in the theatre and educational theatre world for 45 years, 37 of them at OWU. He designed, directed, or acted in over 300 productions in professional, regional, and university theatres. He was a member of the United Scenic Artists, U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology and it’s Ohio Valley chapter, and the Ohio Theatre Alliance, having served as President of that organization. He earned Ezekial Award honors from the U.S.I.T.T.-OH Valley 13 times and won a competition to design a new ballet for the BalletMet, Cole!  He wrote articles and reviews for several national publications.  He has taught stagecraft and design courses, as well as theatre history, performance, and film appreciation and has been on the design and teaching faculty of the Interlochen National Arts Camp, Vanderbilt University, University of Colorado, designed for the Boston Publick Theatre, C.A.T.C.O., Colorado Shakespeare Festival, the BalletMet, Columbus Dance Theatre, WOSU, Otterbein University, Columbus Children’s Theatre, Baldwin-Wallace University, Columbus School for Girls, the Hong Kong Rep, Lincoln Center & Nashville Institute for the Arts, Tiffin Children’s Theatre, and the Cleveland Play House.  Professor Vanderbilt retires in 2020, yet will continue to teach design classes and design or direct when needed.
