I am a member of the Ohio Wesleyan Football team and also VP of Recruitment for Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. I became interested in entrepreneurship through my grandfather who owned and operated his own business for over 30 years. My name is Darren Lo, and during my time at Ohio Wesleyan University, I have been able to create my own business centered around digital media marketing for esports players and personalities. Additionally, I have been able to advise several universities in the process of building their own esports programs. Looking into the future, I hope to build upon this foundation of experience to further improve the OWU and esports community.

I really enjoy community work and creative activities such as graphic design, photography. Because having studied remotely for a year, I do miss OWU campus, staffs and professors. I am eager to be back this Fall. I am so proud of to be a part of Latham Scholar that I hope I would learn and gain a lot of fun.

Shay Nguyen

My name is Shayla Nguyen; Many call me Shay. I am a first-generation Vietnamese American student, and I am working towards double majoring in Philosophy and Pre-law with a Minor in Studio Art. I graduated from Dublin Jerome High school, located in Dublin, Ohio. Where I was involved in Orchestra and Lacrosse. Throughout Highschool and College, I've volunteered in many different fields. I started off volunteering at animal shelters and then moving onto Rabbit rehabilitation, Equine-Facilitated Therapies for veterans, adults, and children with developmental, mental, physical, and emotional disabilities and challenges. I’ve also volunteered for a hospice (Pet Paws) program where my dog, Nova, and I visited patients in nursing homes and assisted living communities. Hospice pet visits offer a welcome distraction from illness and help people feel a little less lonely. At OWU, I am part of The OWU Equestrian Team, where I predominantly focus on Western Horseback Riding. I have my Ohio Cosmetology license alongside a certification in Introduction to Wildlife Rehabilitation Training, credited by The Ohio Wildlife Rehabilitators Association. I am constantly working towards further development within these trades. I am extremely grateful and humbled to have been selected to become a member of the Entrepreneurial Scholars Program. Growing up, I had always been inspired by watching my parents build their lives and their business up in a new country. I am very excited to see what lies ahead!

Samavi Sultana

My name is Samavi Sultana, and I'm an international student from Gujranwala, Pakistan. I'm a computer science major with a minor in mathematics and international studies. Currently, I'm working as an Instructional Tech Assistant in Information Services, and as a student assistant at the purchasing department. I interned in Cleveland as a cloud programmer during the summer of 2021. As a kid, I always admired people in Silicon Valley for being at the center for entrepreneurship in the world, for constantly pushing humanity toward something greater. I look forward to the opportunities this program will be able to bring me so that I might combine my love for computer science and social entrepreneurship.

Santo Sumo

I am Santo F. Sumo, I am from Salayea, Lofa, Liberia. I am a rising senior majoring in Computer Science with minors in Data Analytics and Economics. I am a 2018 Lift Liberia Scholar at the SMART Liberia Education Advancement program (or EAd program), which allows me to study at a university in the United States. Although I was interested in a few entrepreneurial activities as a kid, I never had a deep understanding of entrepreneurship until I attended the SMART Liberia Education Advancement program. I've always been a driven person. Enrolling at Ohio Wesleyan University has inspired me to visualize even bigger dreams. I'm hoping to gain knowledge and insight into how to apply my STEM major to entrepreneurship successfully. I hope to work with mentors who will give me the strategies, tools, and or resources that I can immediately implement. I'm looking forward to growing as an individual as part of the Entrepreneurial Scholars Program.
