Marty Kalb Purchase Award Recipients
Funds made available from the Marty Kalb Purchase Award endowment are used to honor those students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their work. All currently enrolled art majors who are in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year and who show their work in the annual Spring Juried Student Show or the Senior Exhibition are considered for this award.
Professor Frank Hobbs, who succeeded Kalb in 2007, says “From its beginnings in 2007 the Marty Kalb Purchase Fund has provided an important means for the Fine Arts faculty to recognize the dedication and achievement of our Fine Arts majors as they leave OWU to take the first steps in their professional lives. The lasting legacy of the fund, however, is this impressive collection of student work which has been building for ten years. Until now it has lined the walls of Edgar Hall where it has become an important teaching tool, inspiring new generations of students to their own best efforts. As the collection has grown, it is fitting that it be shared with the whole OWU community.”
