I am delighted to announce that the winner of the Welch Award for 2013 is Dr. Richard Leavy Professor of Psychology.

Dr. Leavy’s work in the classroom is admired by both his colleagues and students. Students indicate that he has the remarkable ability to know when to instruct, lead, or guide students in their understanding of difficult material. He emphasizes the application of theory to practices outside of the classroom.

Further, he has provided exceptional educational opportunities to a wide number of students by directing a large number of internships, independent studies, and directed readings. He gives of himself limitlessly to the students under his direction and never asks for anything in return.

Dr. Leavy, it is a real pleasure to congratulate you on receiving the Bishop Herbert Welch Meritorious Teaching Award.
