DESCRIPTION:Professor and author Antonio Arregu&iacute\;n-Berm&uacute\;dez (California State University\, Chico) will give a bilingual reading of his published collection of stories&nbsp\;Burnt Honey / Miel quemada from&nbsp\;6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Bayley Room on the second floor of Beeghly Library\, 43 Rowland Ave.\, Delaware.&nbsp\;
Arregu&iacute\;n-Berm&uacute\;dez&rsquo\;s collection of linked stories in his book brings to life the oppressive and dangerous experience of Mexican immigrant farm workers in the United States. In it\, readers encounter the 14-year-old Little Clown\, a young immigrant who finds hope through language. Little Clown&rsquo\;s journey reflects Arregu&iacute\;n-Berm&uacute\;dez&rsquo\;s own path in many ways&mdash\;he also came to the United States alone\, as a child\, and found his way to a very different life through words and learning.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
Earlier in the day\, Arregu&iacute\;n-Berm&uacute\;dez will discuss his oppressive\, dangerous\, and even humorous life experience as a Mexican immigrant farm worker in the United States\, and what he did to get his green card and his Ph.D. &nbsp\;This presentation\, which will be in English\, will begin at 12:10 p.m. in Room 301 of Merrick Hall\, 65 S. Sandusky St.\, Delaware.
Both events are free and open to the public.
