A retired professor from The Ohio State University\, Benedict has published numerous books on legal developments during and following the Civil War\, including &ldquo\;The Blessings of Liberty: A Concise History of the Constitution of the United States&rdquo\; and &ldquo\;Sources in American Constitutional History.&rdquo\;
