After Choosing OWU

Where do we apply for student loans?

To receive Federal Direct loans (the subsidized and unsubsidized loans you may see on your OWU award letter), students need to complete an online Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling session using their FSA ID to log in.

What do we do after my student has deposited?

Students will receive an email message from “webadmin@owu.edu” approximately 24-48 hours after depositing. It will include instructions on how to set up their OWU email account. Setting up their account in a timely manner is important, as information regarding housing and orientation will be sent to that email address. Any student who doesn’t receive an email from “webadmin@owu.edu” should contact helpdesk@owu.edu and ask for another email to be sent.

How do students find out about jobs on campus via work study?

Students are encouraged to speak with professors, resident advisors, staff, and administrators about job openings. In addition, a job fair is held during the first week of classes at which students meet potential on-campus employers. Another avenue for job leads are the student employment postings in Handshake. It’s smart for students to accept the first employment offer they receive to begin accruing hours as quickly as possible. Students generally work 8-10 hours per week depending on the on-campus job and their available hours. The maximum students are allowed to work is 20 hours per week.
