You won’t find the option of living in a themed house on very many college campuses. Ohio Wesleyan University offers this unusual opportunity to upper-level students who demonstrate a willingness to explore a special interest surrounded by students who share a similar academic or cultural "passion."

Bigelow-Reed House

Renovated in 2010 and dedicated in 2011, the Bigelow-Reed House is named after two OWU alumni: William F. Bigelow, Class of 1905, and John Reed, Hon. 2004.

The house, located at 23 Williams Drive, combines learning and living for students interested in the business world. The house is primarily seniors and juniors and contains a variety of living options from single rooms to suites for five students. The house has a first floor common area, a full kitchen, a teleconferencing room and an apartment for guests of the University.

With the motto “Where Passion Meets Opportunity,” this dedicated living space is a welcome addition to the OWU campus and curriculum.

Honors House

The Honors House, located at 123 Oak Hill Avenue, is an opportunity for students who are members of the OWU Honors Program to live together. The house holds 11 honors students on the second and third floors. The first floor has a large seating area, full kitchen, dining area, and large back porch. Providing programming space and opportunities, the Honors House complements Welch Hall in meeting the interests of OWU honors students.

House of Black Culture

The Butler A. Jones House of Black Culture (1970) is a former family residence that now houses 10 students. The house is named for former sociology professor Butler A. Jones, known for his work with race relations and the Civil Rights Movement. The House of Black Culture has played a significant part in campus history and continues to serve as an important campus resource.

4 Williams Drive

Renovated in 2010, 4 Williams Drive is a living opportunity reserved for seniors and juniors. The “house” contains primarily single rooms with a common bath on each floor. The first floor has a TV lounge, and the ground floor meeting space is perfect for studying or hanging out. The students who choose to live here tend to prefer the single occupancy quarters and the smaller-hall residential community.
