Higher Learning Commission

Ohio Wesleyan has been continuously accredited since 1913, when the University first earned accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges (NCA) and Schools. That accreditation has since passed to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a historically regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. HLC emerged from NCA's higher-education division and today accredits approximately 1,000 member institutions across a 19-state region stretching from Arizona to West Virginia.

To verify Ohio Wesleyan's current accreditation status, click the HLC Mark of Affiliation at the bottom of this page. For questions about institutional accreditation at OWU, contact Dr. Dale Brugh (740-368-3530, djbrugh@owu.edu). To file a complaint about an HLC-accredited institution, visit hlcommission.org.
