OWU builds moral leaders for the global society. Every year, OWU students perform more than 40,000 hours of community service—connecting with organizations and individuals in central Ohio and around the world.
Today’s world is super-connected. Few places remain isolated from cell phones, the Internet, and modern transportation. As a result, problems on one continent or in one neighborhood reverberate beyond established “borders,” and what impacts one community eventually will affect others.
By getting involved, by volunteering, you can make a positive difference in the lives of those around you and around the globe. OWU’s liberal arts preparation will equip you with the skills and sensitivities to do just that.
Service has long been a mainstay of the OWU experience. The University stands on the front lines, whether helping to address global problems, such as water quality and supply, or reaching out to Delaware neighbors in need.
Students, faculty, staff, and alumni all participate—individually, as part of a campus group, or teamed with OWU’s many community service partners.
This dedication to service has not gone unnoticed. OWU has been:
But service isn’t about recognition. It’s about what the individual and the community take away from the experience. How they change and are energized to make a difference going forward. That’s why service-learning activities abound at OWU.
