Paul Dean is Professor of Sociology and Department Chair at Ohio Wesleyan University, an award-winning instructor, and author of several books. His current work focuses on class inequality and first-generation students, including his most recent book, Class Cultures and Social Mobility: The Hidden Strengths of Working-Class First-Generation Graduates (Rutgers University Press, 2026). He is also a speaker, consultant, and workshop facilitator helping faculty, staff, and university administrators to better support first-gen students throughout higher education.
