OWU’s Hispanic Film Festival kicks off this fall with a screening and discussion of “The Liberator,” in Room 312 of the R.W. Corns Building, 78 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. The most expensive Latin American film ever produced, “The Liberator” is a riveting portrayal of Simón Bolívar, who led Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Peru, and Ecuador toward independence. Portrayed by Edgar Ramírez, Bolívar fought over 100 battles against the Spanish Empire. (Rated R, Spanish with English subtitles.) The festival is co-sponsored by Ohio Wesleyan’s Department of Modern Foreign Languages, Film Studies Program, Latin American Studies Program, Global Studies Institute, and VIVA Latinx student organization. Admission is free. For more information, contact faculty member Eva Paris at eeparish@owu.edu.
