Join Us on Sept. 7, 2024!

The Bishop Backers invite you to its Sept. 7 Fall Community Day celebration. As always, admission will be free for everyone, and we expect the day to include a free tailgate with OWU Public Safety officers and Delaware police officers and firefighters outside Selby Stadium, 45 S. Henry St., Delaware.

During the Community Day celebration, the Battling Bishops will take on Otterbein University in OWU's first home game of the 2024-2025 season.

The event also will help raise funds for a community organization. Come join us for this annual tradition!

A Successful 2023 Event!

The Bishop Backers Fall Community Day was held Sept. 9, 2023, at the Ohio Wesleyan vs. Wisconsin-River Falls football game. It was the 2023-2024 home opener for the Battling Bishops.

The day kicked off at 11 a.m. with a free tailgate featuring Delaware police officers and firefighters and OWU Public Safety officers grilling up lunch outside Selby Stadium, 45 S. Henry St., Delaware.

During the game, new OWU President Matt vandenBerg used a T-shirt cannon to launch swag into the crowd, and the Marching Bishops entertained everyone with a halftime performance that included music by Taylor Swift.

Representatives from Ohio Wesleyan University, the Delaware City Police and Fire Departments, and the community raised nearly $1,100 during the Sept. 9 Bishop Backers Fall Community Day to support the Unity Community Center.

Admission was free, but raffles helped to raise nearly $1,100 to aid the Unity Community Center, 50A Ross St., Delaware. The center is dedicated to "fostering unity in the community through service, hands-on support, social action, and education." The winner of the raffle's grand prize, a television and theater sound system, chose not to claim the prize, which also was gifted to the Unity Community Center.

Downtown Delaware's Ciao Cafe, Mystic Moon Beauty & Gifts, and Opa Grill and Tavern provided financial support for the community tailgate.

Thank you to all who attended and helped to make the day great! We can't wait to see you in 2024!
