What Matters
From Rebellion to Renaissance

About a year ago—on the anniversary of the American Revolution—we gathered in Gray Chapel to ignite a rebellion of our own. We did not simply inaugurate a president; we inaugurated in our souls a new understanding of OWU's potential.
Together, we rejected small thinking, fear, and division. We rebelled for creativity, unity of purpose, and the ambitious pursuit of happiness—not just for the privileged few, but for all. We declared a revolution of boldness, kindness, and innovation.
Thanks to the work of many, our revolution is working.
Enrollment is surging. This fall, we expect our largest entering class in 17 years—up more than 30% in just two years. Retention has risen four years in a row and is projected to surpass 85%—the highest in recent memory. And for the first time in years, total enrollment will likely eclipse 1,600 students.
Philanthropy is shattering records. In just the past 18 months, OWU has secured the four largest gifts in our history—each eight figures—and more than $60 million total in support. These investments are not just impressive; they are transformative.
We've unleashed a wave of innovation. OWU now hosts the largest collegiate business plan competition in Ohio. We forged a historic sister-school partnership with Claflin University. We became the first college in the country to train every student, faculty, and staff member in constructive dialogue. And we're just getting started.
Enrollment is surging…Philanthropy is shattering records.

Our campus is transforming. Construction begins soon on the nation's first fine arts-infused library—a visionary facility funded in just three months by six incredible donors. And in January, we'll open The 1842—a new student hub on The Hill designed to foster connection, energy, and joy.
In a time when many colleges are shrinking, cutting, or closing, Ohio Wesleyan is growing, thriving, and investing in its future. We're not waiting to be saved. We're showing how a university can save itself.
This isn't just a comeback. It's a renaissance.
We're not a university that's just holding on.
We're a university rebelling against the status quo.
We're a university rewriting the future for colleges like ours.
It's a great day to be a Bishop—and with your increasing support, your rising voices, and your deepening partnership, tomorrow will be even better.
