- 7:45 a.m. Jan. 20 – The 27th annual MLK Breakfast Celebration*, sponsored by Ohio Wesleyan and the Delaware County Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, in the Benes Room of OWU’s Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave., Delaware. Korie L. Edwards, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology at The Ohio State University, will serve as featured speaker at this ticketed event. Edwards is a leading scholar of race and religion in the United States. Her books include “The Elusive Dream: The Power of Race in Interracial Churches” and “Against All Odds: The Struggle for Racial Integration in Religious Organizations.” OWU’s Gospel Lyres will lead the audience in singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” and The Rowdy Bishops will perform an MLK tribute.
- Noon Jan. 20 – Korie L. Edwards, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology at The Ohio State University, will present “Pursuing the Dream,” in Room 301 of Merrick Hall, 65 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. OWU’s Gospel Lyres will lead the audience in singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Admission to the noon event is free.
*The breakfast buffet will open at 7:45 a.m., followed by the program from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Individual tickets are $25, with eight-person table sponsorships available for $175. Proceeds support MLK Celebration Committee initiatives, including the MLK Scholarship, awarded to outstanding graduates of Delaware City and County schools.
