Jean Clerel is a 2013 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and where he was introduced to the acoustic guitar by a roommate. Born and raised in Douala, Cameroon, Clerel was always in a family of music lovers. In October 2020, Clerel was featured on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert as part of the #PlayAtHome Series.
As a student, Clerel was a member of Rafiki Wa Afrika, President's Club, The JayWalkers, and Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, among many other accomplishments. He now resides in Montreal.
