Joseph T. Glatthaar, Ph.D., Stephenson Distinguished Professor of History at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, discusses “Generalship and Army Culture: A Study of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia and the Union Army of the Potomac.” He will speak at 7: 30 p.m. Oct. 24 in Benes Rooms B and C of OWU’s Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave., Delaware. A 1978 Ohio Wesleyan alumnus, Glatthaar’s books include “The American Military: A Concise History,” “Soldiering in the Army of Northern Virginia: A Statistical Portrait of the Troops Who Served under Robert E. Lee (Civil War America),” and “Forged in Battle: The Civil War Alliance of Black Soldiers and White Officers.” Glatthaar’s presentation is the 2019 Richard W. Smith Lecture in Civil War History.
