Ohio Wesleyan Graduate to Discuss Founding, Leading Several Successful Healthcare Firms

Scott Milligan '90

DELAWARE, Ohio – Scott D. Milligan, a 1990 Ohio Wesleyan University alumnus and serial entrepreneur who has founded and led multiple healthcare start-ups, will discuss his career path Oct. 27 when he presents OWU's 2025-2026 Robert L. Milligan Leaders in Business Lecture.

Scott Milligan will speak at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Benes Rooms inside OWU's Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave., Delaware. The lecture, named for his grandfather, is free and open to the public.

Milligan has been a founder and/or executive leader of Accelitech, PetCure Oncology, and SkinCure Oncology. Most recently, as the CEO of PetCure Oncology, he built the company from an idea in 2014 into the market leader for advanced veterinary radiation oncology for pets, successfully selling the business to a private equity-backed company in 2020.

Before that, he co-founded Accelitech and served as the company's chief development officer, creating the largest private network of stereotactic radiosurgery cancer treatment programs in the country. Through this venture, Milligan and his business partners also founded and launched SkinCure Oncology, a leading provider of non-invasive treatment for skin cancer with over 400 locations throughout the United States. The company has recently partnered with private equity sponsors.

Currently, Milligan is the group vice president of Thrive Pet Healthcare, the acquirer of PetCure Oncology, overseeing the national outpatient veterinary specialty business. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Thrive is a $1.4 billion revenue company with 8,000 employees and 1,300 doctors. Milligan also serves on the board of SkinIO, an artificial-intelligence-driven skin cancer screening company based in Chicago.

Milligan began his career in consulting, most notably at Ernst & Young, where he was a senior manager in the Healthcare Group. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a concentration in Management from Ohio Wesleyan.

Ohio Wesleyan's annual Robert L. Milligan Lecture is presented by The Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship, which works to enhance teaching, learning, research, and community service at the university. The lecture series was established in 1992 with an endowment gift from Robert L. "Bill" Milligan, OWU Class of 1922, and his wife, Mary Cook Milligan, a 2002 honorary alumna, both of whom are deceased.
