Ohio Wesleyan Announces the University's November 2025 Public Events
DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University, including its Richard M. Ross Art Museum, announced its November 2025 public events today. Unless otherwise noted, admission is free.
7:30 p.m. Oct. 30-Nov. 1 and 2 p.m. Nov. 1-2 – Shakespeare's "Macbeth," directed by Bradford Sadler, on the Main Stage in Chappelear Drama Center, 45 Rowland Ave., Delaware. This new take on the classic Shakespearean tragedy chronicles the violent rise to power of Macbeth, a Scottish general, obsessed with fulfilling a prophecy that he is destined to become king. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for senior citizens, and free for OWU students and employees by visiting owuperformingarts.ludus.com beginning two weeks before the show debuts. 7 p.m. Nov. 1 – A Cappellooza, OWU's annual voices-only showcase, in Gray Chapel inside University Hall, 61 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. The concert will feature performances by a cappella groups from Ohio Wesleyan University, Denison University, Kent State University, Oberlin College, and the College of Wooster. This year's headliner is Boston-based Ball in the House, an R&B/Soul/Pop a cappella group that has opened for acts including The Beach Boys, The Jonas Brothers, Fantasia, and Blondie. 4:15 p.m. Nov. 5 – Martha Park, author of "World Without End: Essays on Apocalypse and After," participates in a book reading and signing, in the Milligan Room of Slocum Hall, 75 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. Park is a 2011 Ohio Wesleyan graduate, and her book is an illustrated collection of essays exploring the intersections of faith, motherhood, and the climate crisis across the South. Park earned her Master of Fine Arts from the Jackson Center for Creative Writing at Hollins University. Her collaborative illustrated journalism won an EPPY Award for Best Use of Data/Infographics, and she was a finalist for the Institute for Nonprofit News' Insight Award for Visual Journalism. Her writing, graphic essays, and illustrations have appeared in Orion, Oxford American, The Guardian, Guernica, The Bitter Southerner, Granta, Ecotone, ProPublica, and elsewhere. Her reading, part of the Department of English's Visiting Writers Series, will be followed by a question-and-answer session and book signing. Admission is free. 8 p.m. Nov. 7, 14, and 21 – Friday night skywatches, at Perkins Observatory, 3199 Columbus Pike (U.S. 23), Delaware. Content varies based on weather conditions, but may include a planetarium show, observatory tours, and stargazing with the 32-inch Schottland Telescope. 6:30 p.m. Nov. 11 and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19 – "Hearts of Glass" documentary screening on Nov. 11, at the Strand Theatre, 28 E. Winter St., Delaware, and a Zoom discussion with director Jennifer Tennican on Nov. 19, at Ohio Wesleyan's Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. The film follows the tumultuous first 15 months of operation of Vertical Harvest, a multi-story, state-of-the-art hydroponic greenhouse that grows crops while providing meaningful, competitively-paid jobs for people with disabilities. This film is an intimate portrait of social entrepreneurship at the intersection of disability rights and sustainable, locally produced food. Admission is free for both events. The screening and discussion are presented in collaboration with the Strand, the Ross, and The Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship. This drama-comedy is written by Felipe Holguín Caro and Andy Sierra, and directed by Felipe Holguín Caro, who will participate in a Zoom conversation with the audience after the screening. Each expert will speak for 15 minutes and then respond to questions from the audience and panel moderator Goran Skosples, Ph.D., associate professor of economics. This year's panelists are Bill LaFayette, Ph.D., owner of Regionomics LLC; Ian Sheldon, Ph.D., Andersons Chair for Agricultural Marketing, Trade and Policy in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics at The Ohio State University; and Willem Van Zandweghe, Ph.D., vice president in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. RICHARD M. ROSS ART MUSEUM
Continuing its year-long curatorial and programmatic exploration of environmental issues, Ohio Wesleyan University's Richard M. Ross Art Museum is showcasing three exhibits in November that feature artists reacting to "humanity's impact on our planet," says Christopher Yates, museum director.
- Through Dec. 14 – "Sprawl: OWU Faculty Show," including works by Fine Arts professors and working artists Kristina Bogdanov, Frank Hobbs, and Jeff Nilan. The exhibition showcases their latest creations in ceramics, painting, photography, and other media. Learn more at owu.edu/FineArts.
- Through March 29, 2026 – "Demarcations and Delineations" by Michelle Stitzlein, giving new life to discarded materials pulled from the waste stream. Stitzlein studies the patterns, seams, and lines that permeate the natural world and uses the recycled material to create imaginary topographies. - Through March 29, 2026 – "Our Changing Landscape: Life in the Anthropocene," curated to support OWU's First Year Seminar Curriculum and featuring more than 30 artists. The exhibit sheds light on man-made environmental destruction as well as creative, climate solutions and the dream of a better future.
Art and the Environment Talk Series
The Ross Art Museum, in collaboration with the OWU Department of Environment & Sustainability, is hosting a series of talks this year on the intersection of art and the environment. The series features artists, activists, and scholars, and their efforts to change the world around them for the better.
- 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18 – Carolina Barbosa, Ph.D., assistant professor of Environment and Sustainability, presents "Citizen Science and Open Data." Barbosa joined Ohio Wesleyan in August and describes herself as a Brazilian freshwater researcher enthusiastic about modeling, data science, and water quality management. She has been working with the grassroots network DSOS (Data Science and Open Science) in relation to her work. Learn more at carolinacbarbosa.weebly.com.

- 2-4 p.m. Nov. 16 – Pinecone Turkey: Visit the Ross Art Museum to create a free make-and-take Thanksgiving turkey and read seasonal stories! This craft is open to all ages.
Ohio Wesleyan's Richard M. Ross Art Museum is located at 60 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. During the academic year, the Ross is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed Saturdays and Mondays. It will be closed from Nov. 22 through Dec. 1 for Thanksgiving break. The museum is handicap-accessible and admission is always free.
