Name: Alex D’Amore-Braver ’14
Hometown: Troy, Michigan
Majors: Biology and Education
Experiences: Theory-to-Practice Grant, “Environmentalism in Hindu Philosophy”; Course Connections, “Food: How Production and Consumption Shape Our Bodies, Our Cultures, and Our Environment” and “Modern Life and Its Discontents”; Travel-Learning Course, “Tropical Biology”

“I’ve learned so much throughout all of these experiences. My month in India gave me the lesson of being OK with uncertainty, as well as confidence in my ability as a traveler and person, and made me realize the incredible joy of opening one’s self up to new cultures.

“My Travel-Learning Course and Course Connection experiences have helped me to see myself on an intellectual journey with professors as guides and friends, not purely authority figures. All of these experiences have reinforced my philosophy to observe everything with an intellectual eye.”
