Registration Runs Through Sept. 26 for Ohio Wesleyan's Fall 2025 Lifelong Learning Institute
DELAWARE, Ohio – The Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) at Ohio Wesleyan University will offer 10 classes this fall, with topics including Film Noir, Delaware County in Pictures and Prose, and Life on the American Plains.
For a flat fee of $75, Delaware County residents 55 and older are able to take as many courses as they wish during the fall session, which runs Oct. 6-Nov. 14, 2025.
Volunteer experts, including retired Ohio Wesleyan professors, teach the courses in a non-competitive environment. All sessions will be held in-person unless otherwise noted. Scheduled fall classes are:
- Film Noir – Volume 2, taught at The Strand Theatre, with screenings of:
- "Mildred Pierce" (1945)
- "The Lady from Shanghai" (1947)
- "Criss Cross" (1949)
- "White Heat" (1949)
- "In a Lonely Place" (1950)
- "Strangers on a Train" (1951)
- History is All Around Us: Delaware County Stories in Pictures and Prose
- Tuesday LLI Potpourri, with single-topic sessions on topics including "Prelude to Independence: April 1775-January 1776," "Beautiful Birds Around the World," and "So You've Committed Treason...What's Next?"
- Life on the American Plains – Living in Pioneer America
- Wednesday LLI Potpourri, with single-topic sessions on topics including "AI and the Future of Work," "The Man Who Saved the Planet: The Real Story of Sherwood Rowland," and "How to Delay Cognitive Decline with Brain Health Exercise"
- Raise Your Spirits, featuring trips to businesses to learn about breweries, wineries, and meaderies
- Tech Talks
- The History of the Book: From Tablets and Scrolls to Manuscripts and Printed Books
- Spooky Stories: Classic American Tales of the Supernatural
- Getting to Know You
Online, mail, and telephone registration for the spring session opens Aug. 25 and runs through Sept. 26. Thanks to support from SourcePoint, the Lifelong Learning Institute is able to offer a limited number of $50 scholarships this spring. Scholarship applications must be submitted on or before Sept. 19.
