CANE: Scenes and Songs from a New Musical
4-5:15 p.m.
LOCATION: Chappelear Drama Center Main Stage

The white and black citizens of a Georgia mill town struggle with faith, interracial love, financial insecurity, and violence in this new stage adaptation of Jean Toomer's groundbreaking 1920s modernist novel. This 1-hour workshop presentation will feature selections from this original work-in-progress in a spare but engaging staged reading format (actors will perform without costumes, without memorization, and will have scripts and scores in hand). A 15-minute Q&A session for the audience will follow.
