‘Best and Most Interesting’ List

Ohio Wesleyan Featured in ‘Fiske Guide to Colleges 2018’

DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University is one of the “best and most interesting” four-year colleges in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain, according to the “Fiske Guide to Colleges 2018.”

The new guidebook, released today, lists Ohio Wesleyan’s strengths as “strong preparation for graduate and professional school, a solid grounding in the liberal arts, and an emphasis on having fun outside the classroom.”

Created by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske, the new guidebook takes a “selective, subjective, and systematic look at three-hundred-plus colleges and universities” to identify its best-of list.

Fiske GuideThe 2018 Fiske Guide also includes comments from current Ohio Wesleyan students and recent graduates on topics such as academics, campus setting, student body, financial aid, housing, food, social life, and extracurricular activities.

According to the OWU students:

  • “The academics here are intense and challenging.”
  • “The professors are very accessible and are willing to help students however they can.”
  • “We have small-living units or SLUs, which are essentially themed houses. The members of these houses do house projects every semester for the campus and are an extremely important part of the OWU community.”
  • Delaware is “adorable. There are several small shops and restaurants that are also relatively diverse from Greek to Cajun to just regular pizza and burger joints.”
