‘Creative, Enthusiastic, and Outgoing’ with ‘Wicked’ Ambition!

Senior Abby Hanson to Host OWU Snapchat Takeover

My name is Abby Hanson, and I’m a senior at OWU.

I guess I would describe myself as creative, enthusiastic, and outgoing. My major is English with a concentration in creative writing, and I have minors in French and comparative literature.

I am a member of Pitch Black, OWU’s all-women’s a cappella group; Terpsicorps, a dance club that performs every spring; a resident of The Honors House (HoHo); the editorial assistant in the Office of University Communications; and an office worker in the Department of English/Comparative Literature.

I am really proud that for the editorial job, I was able to write the cover story for the spring 2016 issue of OWU Magazine. The article is about Dr. Laurie Anderson, professor of botany-microbiology, who was named Ohio Professor of the Year.

I love so many things about OWU: the diversity of students, faculty, and staff; all of the great clubs and events; and the extremely helpful professors.

My favorite professor is Dr. Nancy Comorau in the English department because she is so passionate about her students and what she teaches.

My favorite place on campus is definitely Peale Chapel. It’s a beautiful room in Hamilton-Williams Campus Center with a huge window that overlooks Delaware; there are also couches there that are great for afternoon naps!

In my lifetime, I would really like to play Elphaba in Wicked — anytime, anywhere.

On Snapchat, I hope to share life at HoHo, classes, a Pitch Black officer meeting, and behind-the-scenes footage of the March 24 Bishop Bash featuring Bo Burnham!
