Data Acquisition Expert to Discuss Trends, Technology

Kyle Roth ’03

DELAWARE, Ohio – Data is the new oil of industry, says Grange Insurance manager Kyle Roth, a 2003 Ohio Wesleyan University graduate, and “companies everywhere are recognizing the economic value of information and seeking opportunities to leverage it for competitive differentiation.”

Roth will return to his alma mater to discuss “The New Information Worker: Driving Business Results with Data and Analytics” at 3:10 p.m. March 27 in the Bayley Room of Ohio Wesleyan’s Beeghly Library, 43 Rowland Ave., Delaware. The event is free and open to the public.

Roth currently serves as a business intelligence design and analytics manager for Grange Insurance and recently introduced a new technology called “QlikView,” which enables his team to conduct rapid business-driven data discovery.

“The benefits of data-driven decision-making are clear and encompass not merely what happened, but also why did it happen and what is about to happen,” Roth said. “Business acumen and strategic leadership qualities are not enough for today’s business worker. In order to compete, a new breed is needed who are data savvy, strong in math, and able to conceive of data-driven ways to measure success and formulate strategy.”

Roth is a magna cum laude Ohio Wesleyan graduate with a major in applied statistics and minors in computer science and economics. He also is the founder and bi-vocational pastor of Liberty Hill Church in Powell, where he lives with his wife and three children.

Roth’s presentation is sponsored by Ohio Wesleyan’s Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship and is part of the center’s continuing series of business experts. Founded in 1985, the Woltemade Center helps students to integrate business theory and practice, and provides resources to benefit the local and regional business community.
