Ohio Wesleyan to Host Environmental and Natural Resource Symposium Feb. 27
DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University will host a free panel discussion at 9 a.m. Feb. 27 to explore "Efficient Conservation: Using Data To Maximize Environmental Impact." The event will include a moderated discussion and time for audience questions.

The Environmental and Natural Resource Symposium will be held in Room 301 of Merrick Hall, 65 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. The event is sponsored by The Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship.
Ohio Wesleyan faculty member Will Georgic, Ph.D., assistant professor of economics, will moderate the discussion. Georgic's research focuses on studying environmental problems likely to worsen with climate change (including flooding and harmful algal blooms) and informing more efficient policy decisions.
Panelists for the "Efficient Conservation" symposium are:

Nicole Burns, landscape conservation biologist for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Her duties include developing tools and resources to inform and prioritize conservation efforts across the State of Florida, as well as coordinating connections and collaborations of conservation efforts among other FWC divisions and partners in the conservation community.

Elizabeth Schuster, environmental economist and CEO of Sustainable Economies Consulting, a strategic planning and economics research firm based in Wooster, Ohio. Her expertise spans sectors including agriculture, academia, nonprofits, and government, and her research focuses on regenerative agriculture economics, food production, and ecosystem service valuation.
Both panelists are graduates of colleges belonging to the Great Lakes Colleges Associate (GLCA), a consortium of leading liberal arts institutions – including Ohio Wesleyan – based in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Burns holds degrees from Denison University and the University of Guam, and Schuster from Oberlin College and the University of Arizona.
